Revealed: The Surprising Truth About Betfair Trading the Favorite
Have you ever wondered whether trading the favourite is really the most profitable approach? While the liquidity on the favourite is high, there are some factors to consider that may impact your return on investment.
One key factor is that the odds on the favourite are often lower than other selections in the market. This means that while the liquidity may be high, the return you get for your trade may not be as great as it could be with other selections.
As long as liquidity is high enough looking to trade other selections can help you minimize your risk and increase your profits over time.
While trading the favourite can be a valid strategy, it's important to consider these factors before trading. By taking a more strategic approach and looking for value in other selections, you may be able to maximize your return on investment and achieve greater success in your sports trading.
Especially if you have just started on your Betfair trading journey.

Betfair trading on Horse racing | Here is why your trading can be good and bad
When I first started Betfair trading on Horse Racing, I soon picked up speed and started really looking for to my first year of trading.

I soon recovered and hit my stride again and had a really good year. Only to find the following year I went through the same cycle again. I figured something was up, so decide to try and learn what was happening and why.
In a nutshell it was seasonality and once I learned what happened and why, I just learnt to adapt my trading.
This video is about how seasonality will affect your Betfair trading on horse racing and what I do about it.
It should reassure you if you are beginner or just starting out on your Betfair trading journey.

BETFAIR TRADING: How I Look For Favourable Set-Ups To Make Money
I often look for favourable set-ups when I'm Betfair trading on pre-off horse racing.
I'll look at the market and see where there are key points I can trade or where I may trade at some point in the future.
If I don't see them, I won't trade them.
I'm looking for key points in the market where there is potential for profit at a reasonable risk. This will vary from market to market, but in this video, we look at a market that doesn't initially give us an opportunity but does later on.
Then we look at a market where the opportunity is present, but there isn't much liquidity.
So the two approaches are very similar, but one is more favourable than another, but we adjust our stake to keep the risk low.
The reason for the lower liquidity in the final market is that previous races had not finished, so there wasn't a great deal of interest in this race.
But we still managed to get a small profit from it. And lots of little profits soon add up to much bigger amounts.

Betfair trading | How to trade on Betfair with BIG stakes and short prices
In horse racing, favourites attract a lot of money in the betting market.
When the price of a favourite gets really short, you tend to be forced into a betting decision based on whether you should back it to win or lay it to lose.
Backing to win is risky as at such a short price, you could risk a lot for a small return with a massive loss if it doesn't win.
But placing a lay bet will mean you lose quite often as if the market is efficient, it should win quite often.
If you trade, however, you can take advantage of the short prices and this market indecision to make a profitable trade.
The problem with this is that each individual trade will only net a small profit, so you have to raise the stakes to a much more significant amount to get a decent profit.
In this video, I explain the process I go through to profit from markets with a lot of money and betting interest on the favourite.

Betfair trading software | How this new Bet Angel feature is going to change everything
Betfair trading software is a must if you want to Betfair trading is a very competitive market, but now and again something comes along that is a game changer.
If you betting in-play or doing any sort of Betfair trading in-play on Horse racing, we just launched a new feature for Bet Angel that will completely change the way you bet or trade these markets.
There are two key problems with in-play betting or trading on horse racing. The first is that camera angles can be deceptive and lead you into a trade when you can't clearly see the action of the horses.
The second is the infamous in-play delay. Because of the delay in transmitting TV pictures, there has been a turf war for the faster pictures available.
This has resulted in people even using Drones to get faster pictures than most people can see at racecourses.
This new feature in Bet Angel, now gives you the ability to benefit from racecourse telemetry. Each horse has a special device installed in the saddlecloth which can now transmit horse specific data, straight into Bet Angel.

Betfair trading | How I uncovered this £100 Betfair trade | Fully explained
While I was Betfair trading this week I did a trade where I had enough time to tweet out that I thought the move in the betting market had 'probably gone far enough'.
I have covered these sorts of trades before in other videos but this trade combined two key factors in my decision to actively trade it.
So this video goes into depth about why I did this trade, what made me confident backing had gone far enough and that a reversal was likely. I refer to the other videos here so you can also look at those videos for more depth.
The first one mentioned in this video (The FOMO zone) is here: -

Basically, we look in this video at the key factors that made this a profitable Betfair trade. This trade was done pre-off on horse racing.

Betfair trading | Profitable trading delivered from the sky!
Betfair trading offers many opportunities to profit from betting or trading on your favourite sports.
But have you ever looked to the sky for inspiration? Trading opportunities can come from many angles, but the sky actually is one of them.
Pre-pandemic it was common for jockeys to travel larges distances between races. But even in the current era, turning up for one race, especially in a helicopter could be a significant sign that there is something going on in the market.
Even if it's not a jockey, a trainer or owner should trigger your interest in what is happening in the market. Their presence at a racecourse should get you more interested in why and get you checking for clues on what is happening in the market.
While it's not an everyday occurrence, these sorts of things can create some excellent trades.
You may see I've got a scar on my head and a puffy eye. Nothing serious, but it was a mountain bike crash.

Betfair trading | How to find perfect trading opportunties automatically using Bet Angel (HD)
This is a duplicate(ish) upload as YouTube couldn't render the previous one to HD quality, so I've uploaded it again in a slightly different format. Sorry about that!
There are lots of ways to find a profitable Betfair trade, but one of the strongest signals you can get in a market is when a jockey or a trainer wins a couple of races in a row or you detect a draw bias unfolding.
This will light a fire under the market for the next race, which can be a great trading opportunity.
Betfair trading can be very intensive though. So it's perfectly possible, especially if you trade pre-off, that you will miss the actual result of the race or some of the detail of what has happened.
But that's not a problem with Bet Angel as you can run multiple pieces of automation to now only trade for you, but you can also get it to gather information for you so you can quickly review or alert yourself to key things that are happening in the market, or even in prior markets.
That's what we discuss and show in this video.

Betfair trading strategies | How to trade horse racing pre-off using key indicators
In this video, I've split the discussion between an explanation of how I approach a market and an actual trade follows after that discussion.
I discuss in great depth the sort of thing I'm looking for when I arrive at a market and then go on to show the trade I actually did in the market and point out some key aspects of the trade and why it worked.
There can be a lot of things to look at if you are using a Betfair trading strategy such as trading order flow on pre-off horse racing.
It can be as simple or as complicated as you wish, but I tend to follow a similar pattern to each race that I trade in this manner.
I tend to look for a suitable market and wait for the volume to build to get in and out with ease. Then I start looking for specifics within the market to get the right entry point
At that point, I'm also making a judgement on where my exit will be, in both directions.
Watch this video if you want to get a really detailed narrative on a successful Betfair trade on a horse racing market.

Betfair trading | A simple trade on Bet Angel with an execution edge!
Betfair trading is a very competitive business. Lots of people are familiar with certain trading styles and will use those in the market. So you need to be a little bit clever to outcompete other Betfair traders.
When we designed the first version of Bet Angel it was quite simplistic in terms of a trading tool, but over time we have added more and more features to it to improve execution edge.
When you have an execution edge you can trade the same market as somebody else, using the same tactic, but still trade better.
In this video, we use this Bet Angel Servant: -
https://forum.betangel.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=18732
To perform the execution of a trade for us. This leaves us to focus on the placement of the opening bet and the servant will use some logic we have given it to give us the best possible chance of profiting.
See the video where I discuss this tactic here: -

Betfair trading | A very effective trade that's easy to do on Bet Angel
Betfair trading can seem really complicated at times as there are so many things to look at.
Your profit from the price movement in odds, that's simple enough to understand. But which way are the odds going to go, when should open your trade. Should you back first, lay first, what happens if the price goes against you?
This Betfair trading strategy solves pretty much all the standard questions and problems you have when you trade.
You don't need to think much about when to get into the market and you don't need to worry about direction.
Better still, it's easy to understand and even easier to do perform this trade in the market. Of course, there is still a little risk attached to any trade, but this is about as close as you will get to the 'perfect' trade.
We use some additional features on Bet Angel to make this trade even easier.

Betfair trading | Get more winning trades using this set-up
A lot of trading is quite simple at its core, but often people overlook the basics when trying to trade profitably.
When I trade, I try to offer bets to the market as this allows me to profit even if there is no price movement, or if that movement is in a narrow range.
By doing this you can give yourself another option to profit, on the basis that there is only one scenario where the trade could go wrong. Even it that scenario it's still possible to have a chance to get out at break even.
In this video, we do some simple Betfair trading using Bet Angel, but explain why we have the screen set up a certain way to take advantage of the way the Betfair betting exchange works.

Betting In-play | How confusion netted a Betfair trader £10,000 in one race!
If there is one piece of advice that is worth heeding when you start betting or trading on Betfair, it's read the rules!
Market settlement on Betfair is determined by the rules as so to be fair to backers and layers.
But you also find that in each underlying sport there are a set of rules that govern how they are run and settled.
Most of the time things go as planned and nothing special happens, but every now and again the market throws you a curveball and if you are ready for it, you can take advantage.
That is what one Bet Angel customer did when they were doing some in-play Betfair trading on horse racing.
What looked like a normal horse race was transformed by an incident early on in the race at Fontwell.
From that point, chaos ensued and at the end of the race, you could still back the eventual winner way above the traditional 1.01 that a winner of a horse race trades at, when it crosses the line.
Other markets I've covered where the rules played a part: -

Betfair trading | Using pace maps to find profitable in play strategies
When I started Betfair trading on horse racing I focused purely on pre-off trading as that was relatively easy to trade and it was a style of trading I was familiar with.
However, in between races I would often watch the in-play (in-running as it was originally called) markets and slowly but surely learnt how to read a race very well.
I can't show race reading on YouTube unfortunately but will be producing some content for the https://www.betangelacademy.com
But I can share with you on YouTube what you should be looking at before the start of the race. By understanding how a horse racing is going to be run in play you can get vital information as to where the odds are likely to head.
If you know this, then you can design a Betfair trading strategy around this key piece of information.
