Horse racing - Trading - How odds move inplay
In this video we examine how the odds moved in this particular race. We also offer narrative on how the race is being run from the winners perspective. betfair -
Betfair trading - Using Betfair charts
It's nice to look at Betfair charts and see the longer trend but there is also a lot of danger in using the charts if you have no idea what they represent. Rather than a strict linear progression of price the Betfair charts often represent anything but a true trend. For that you need something like the advanced charting on Bet Angel which allows you to plot data real time in a number of user definable ways. Have a look at this video and see for yourself the optical illusion that are Betfair's standard charts. -
Betfair trading - How odds move in a soccer / football match
If there are no goals in a match, the chance of a draw is much more likely, that's a given. But there are many other ways that odds move, very often, quite counter intuitively to the way most people think they really should. In this video we examine just one of these scenarios. We also take time out to compare what Soccer Mystic thought before the start of the match and what actually happened when the match went in-play. football -
Lay the draw with Soccer Mystic
Laying the draw with a view to trading it back in play is a very popular strategy on betting exchanges. But does it work? Here we use Soccer Mystic to understand what would happen in a match if we laid the draw. -
Getting faster pictures for in running trading
Here is a visual demonstration of difference in speed you can get on UK horse racing 'live' pictures.
As you can see there is a fair difference between both feeds. The interesting thing about both these feeds is neither cost £5k a year, they are both free, but only on certain days of the week! This is because one is via terrestrial television and the other via satellite which has to transmit, bounce and re-transmit. This leads to a delay in the pictures.
It illustrates an interesting point. If you don't have a fast feed then anybody else trading against you in the market can literally see the future. A big advantage and one that puts me off trying to do anything inrunning unless I know I am on a level playing field or have a strategy that is not dependant on timing. betfair -
Betfair - Market manipulation
This video shows a market where the favourite is being heavily manipulated. Somebody is 'controlling' the money in an around the favourite in this race with the intention of 'holding' the price at it's current level. Watch the price of the favourite and the movement to understand how this is being achieved and what you could have done if you were attempting to trade the favourite. betfair -
Betfair trading - Bet Angel - Peter Webb on using stop losses
Stop losses are a commonly used method to cut out a trade that is going wrong.
In this video, we look at stop loss as a concept and examine sensible places where we may look to put a stop in.

Betfair trading - The art of swing trading
There is a key to swing trading that is often missed and that is the trick of not panicking when a position doesn't immediately move into profit.
In this video I discuss why practicing your exit may prove more profitable that your entry point. -
Psychology of trading - Why traders fail
My view on why you can show people exactly the same set up to trade and why they will come out with two entirely different results!
I started from the same place as most traders but have worked through the problems that made me a hopeless trader when I first started.

The Psychology of trading - The hotel room analogy
While on my visit to the US recently I visited the wrong floor of a hotel and realised that in fact the problem I was facing wasn't that different from trading.
Therefore I'm offering some thoughts on why understanding how to traverse the hotel, could in fact help people understand their objective when trading. -
How to Win the Lottery by Predicting Winning Lottery Numbers
How to win the lottery or lotto, depending on which country you come from!
Everybody dreams of winning the jackpot on the lottery or gambling by some means. Unfortunately, actually doing is just a lot harder. So how to make money on the lottery?
Predicting winning numbers is a tricky thing to do. If you want to win the lottery, you need to do so with fewer chosen numbers.
In this video, I discuss a strategy on how to win money, more of it, if you are lucky enough to win the lottery.
I was asked a while ago to write an article on random events and if there was anything you could do about it. I used an example based on lottery entries.
I recently reprised this and recorded this quick video that I thought you might find interesting.
It exposes people's habits of entering biased numbers into a random process. You experience this in many markets, and sports markets are no different; they all contain hard-wired biases.
By the way, don't try and win money by gambling for a living. Work hard and do it that way; only ever gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Matched betting to Betfair trading - Key differences and opportunities
The very first Betfair trading strategy I deployed was actually using bookmakers. I would get a good price from them and lay off on the Betfair exchange.
Technically I was doing arbitrage or 'arbing' as people often call it. I used this base to go from 'risk-free ' betting to opting to take some risk with trading.
In this video, I describe that journey and how matched betting is very different from trading using bet angel trading software. But essentially I started from there before figuring out that actually, I should trade the markets to acheive better scale. -
Peter Webb - Betfair Trading - How to be a profitable trader
Pure, 'real' trading is about getting the balance behind profits and losses and that can be achieved in a number of ways.
In this video, we discuss this concept and the way you can be more effective by deciding what to trade and not but also realising what actually makes a good trade or not.

Betfair Trading - Predicting where prices will move - Peter Webb: Bet Angel
If you look at any betting market it will contain information on what chance the market is giving each individual participant of winning the event.
Back in the early days the 'book' was slack and there was quite a bit of room for odds to move around. But now the market is very 'tight' and any movement in one direction will trigger a movement in the other direction.
In this video we look at the market, at book % and how odds moving in one direction can influence odds in the other direction.
We then look at a football match and use this characteristic to predict where the price of the draw will be given certain movements elsewhere. -
Why sports betting tips from tipsters cannot be trusted!
When your typical punter goes to place a bet they usually have no prior knowledge of the market and place all their trust in a tipster.
This is true for football betting tips, golf betting tips, tennis betting tips and so on. The tipsters usually grasp the punter with phrases such as 'free betting tips today' and as a punter you trust that they are giving you the right information.
Is this ringing true? Watch this video to discover how you can make money from sports WITHOUT putting your trust and hard earned cash in the hands of a tipster.
