Betfair trading | A simple trade explained in depth
Here is a Betfair trade that I did recently while tutoring somebody. It's not a very big trade, it's tiny actually.
But that's not important, what is more important is the description I am giving as the trade is underway. I'm carefully pointing out key aspects in the market and showing the detail.
That includes an entry point, an exit point and managing the trade with open positions.
This Betfair trading at quite a small level. But it would be perfectly possible to use larger stakes on this trade, but I'm leaving that decision up to the person who is trading. I'm just guiding them in and out of the market. -
How I made money betting on Barney Curley horses | Betfair trading a gambling yard
Betting on horse racing can be fun, but is a very uncertain business. Which horse should you place a back bet on? With betting exchanges, came the opportunity to lay a horse to lose.
But when a Barney Curley trained horse stepped up to the starting post in a horse race, you never knew what was going to happen?
Barney Curley became famous for the Yellow Sam betting coup, but later went on to be a high profile trainer of horses and very well known in betting circles.
Barney Curley retired from training in 2013 but he was well known for several high profile betting coups and whenever a horse used to appear for him at a racetrack everybody was second-guessing whether this was a horse that was going to be produced or whether the handicapper was about to lower its rating.
It made for some great horseracing trading markets.
Somebody contacted me this week to ask if I had a Barney Curley race in my archive of videos and I do, so here is one of them.

Peter Webb - Bet Angel - Detailed Betfair trading analysis
Here is a video I found in the archives that was fairly easy to read so I annotated it and gave I put some narration to it as well.
It's slightly older so it is missing some of the more modern features of Bet Angel, but that probably makes it easier for people to follow as well. It is alsp a great low risk trading strategy - enjoy! -
Peter Webb - Bet Angel - £150 Betfair trade analysis
I checked my recent videos and saw that it had been a little while since I posted some analysis of a Betfair trading video.
So I dug through my archives and found this. It's a decent example of spotting a trend by trading it by doing the opposite on another runner.
Enjoy! -
Peter Webb, Bet Angel - Horse racing trading analysis
When races are quite close together you can get a rush of money arriving into a market and push a little lower as people rush in on the back of an existing trend.
This is fine and you can trade it, but it tends to bounce quickly if it doesn't decisively break a new level.
Here is a good example of that using Bet Angel. -
Peter Webb - Bet Angel - £100 Betfair Trade Analysis
A little while back Betfair asked me to record an entire days trading using Bet Angel for use in their ambassador campaign focused on Betfair trading software.
They only ever used one of these videos, but here is another one.
I look for a contrarian position on something that has been coming in a for a bit. -
Betfair Trading: Horse Racing - Trade analysis
I had a browse of my recent Betfair trading videos and found this narrated one on a Horse Racing market that I thought would interest you.
When you arrive in a market you need a 'theme'. Something that you think is going to happen. From there you need to look for confirming factors to manage your trade.
That is what I am doing in this video. -
Peter Webb, Bet Angel - Betfair trading analysis - Horse racing
Here is an interesting trade on horse racing from this week.
I tend to go against the trend, they produce some of the best trades you can do. But for every selection heading in one direction, there is probably something heading in the other. In this case, there were two heading in and that was helping send the favourite out.
You will also see how I hold my position for it to mature. I don't jump in and out all the time and try and second guess.
As long as the position holds, I'll hold and that's often key when betfair trading. -
Peter Webb, Bet Angel - How to exit a trade that has gone wrong - Betfair trading
I was digging through my betfair trading videos this week and saw this one which was interesting because it has two different, but important messages, in it.
The first is to do with establishing a position and the second is to do with exiting in such a way you don't influence your exit negatively. -
Betfair trading - Peter Webb - Bet Angel trading software - Trading a 'rush'
You can pretty much split pre-race trading on Betfair into four phases.
The period before the 'real' money arrives. The rush when the real money arrives and then there is a period of trending before you may get a bounce right at the end of the market, just before post time.
In this video, the rush comes quite late as the races are spaced just give minutes apart. So I jump on it and trade out quickly. It's quite an aggressive type of trade.

Betfair trading strategies - Trading a breakout - Peter Webb
Peter Webb using Bet Angel Betfair trading software: here is a trade using betangel from this week that is a good illustration of a breakout.
The price gets stuck for a while then pings lower. It can work in both directions, but here we are exploiting the fact the market wants to push lower but doesn't. -
Betfair trading - Horse racing - Trading a bounce - Peter Webb
I've often said that catching a bounce and going against a prevailing trend is trade that I love. So here is one.
Sorry about the static that occurs on the microphone, I'm not sure where that came from. peter webb -
Royal Ascot: Real Horse Racing Trading Analysis
During this video, I will show you a real trade recorded during royal ascot.
I fired up another copy of Bet Angel during Ascot week and did a 'little' trade for you in the background.
I wanted to show you what a market like Ascot looks like and how I can trade it despite being busy elsewhere.
Some of these types of markets can be really slow. But that can be helpful as well. As you can see in this video we are really casual in terms of the way we are managing the position. -
Betfair trading strategies - Why dumping a trading position is an important skill
Just as important as getting into a trade for the right reason, is being able to get out of that trade if something goes wrong.
Most traders, including Betfair traders. Will say something like, cut your losses and let your profits run.
But doing that is admitting that you were wrong is actually quite hard to do, but it is an essential part of trading.
In this video, I'm using the Betfair betting exchange to trade with betangel and show this in action. Knowing you are wrong is an important part of any Betfair trading strategy. -
Betfair trading - Building confidence with a simple trade
The video I uploaded last week was quite complex from a decision making perspective so I wanted to balance it out with a much simpler trade.
This trade exploits some key characteristics in a market to trade profitable without the chaos of a multiple decision making. software -
Peter Webb, Bet Angel - Trade analysis from this week
Here is an interesting trade from this week. Some markets are dull and un-interesting and the video would be of me trying to find an opportunity or following a trend, but this is a real mixture of things. -
Peter Webb, Bet Angel - Detailed narrative on a decent trend trade
I haven't put up a full blown trade for a little while so one is overdue. This is detailed trade trend trade at Newcastle.
The favourite is getting a lot of support and continues to do so. I identify a number of key areas in the trade which I use to add or remove parts of my trade from the market.
It's a decent trade and demonstrates some key elements of reading a market.

Betfair trading - Horse racing - Profiting from a late move
There are so many different ways to catch move in when trading on Betfair in Racing markets. Using information on Bet Angel, If I arrive late to a market I will often look at the predominant trend the opposing it in the dying moments before a race starts.
This allows me the chance to profit, not only from exhaustion in a trend but also from people closing out longer terms positions.
It's one of a number of tactics I'll use depending on what's in front of me.
